Former assistant coach returns to helm of storied program

San Jacinto College has named Eric Weaver as the next head coach of the Ravens baseball team. Weaver will begin in the role on July 1.

"We are pleased to welcome Eric Weaver back to San Jacinto College, this time as head baseball coach," said Dr. Allatia Harris, vice chancellor for strategic initiatives at San Jacinto College. "Eric has extensive coaching experience at the JUCO division 1 level and maintains excellent contacts in the Houston region which will serve our program well. His focus on developing student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom was among many things that stood out about Eric, and we look forward to supporting him as our next baseball coach."

Coach Weaver comes to San Jac from Blinn College, where he has served as associate head coach for the past two seasons. Weaver was part of a Blinn program that went 47-17 this season en route to winning the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship. The 2024 squad was ranked fourth in the NJCAA preseason rankings, and won the 2023 conference, region and super-regional before finishing fourth in the nation at the 2023 JUCO World Series. Weaver also served as Blinn's co-recruiting coordinator, pitching coach and third base coach, and was the athletic advisor for three men's sports.

Weaver spent eight seasons as assistant coach at San Jac, overseeing pitching and serving as co-recruiting coordinator. He was also in charge of baseball facilities and was the team's academic advisor. During his time at San Jac the team made six NJCAA World Series appearances, incuding two national champion runner-up finishes, and won the Region XIV title six times.

"I am fired up to be back at San Jacinto College," said Weaver. "This program has had so much success and a tradition like no other junior college in the country. I'm honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead this historic program and I can't wait to get to work with the incredible staff and future players. It's time to bring a national title back to San Jac."

Prior to his assistant coaching stint at San Jac, Weaver was an assistant at Alvin Community College where the Dolphins were the 2014 conference champions.

Weaver twice earned all-conference pitching honors and was the team MVP as a player at Alvin Community College and went on to Texas State where he was the team's closer. He graduated from Deer Park High School as a two-sport standout earning all-district honors in baseball and football.

Weaver holds a bachelor's degree in applied arts and sciences with an emphasis in occupational education from Texas State University. He and his wife, Kassi, have two sons and reside in Deer Park.
