Woody Williams, a graduate of Cy Fair High School and The University of Houston bring an elite level of baseball knowledge and experience to the field, built on a successful career as both a professional player and collegiate coach.
Williams enjoyed a 15-year career in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher, competing at the highest level of the game with the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Toronto Blue Jays where he won a world series. Over his MLB career, he recorded nearly 1,500 strikeouts, earned over 132 career wins, and was selected as an MLB All-Star. Woody is one of 24 pitchers to earn a victory against all 30 MLB teams. Known for his competitiveness, durability, and leadership, Williams consistently served as a reliable presence in starting rotations and clubhouses throughout his career.
Following his professional playing career, Williams transitioned into coaching, where he has continued to impact the game by developing young talent at the collegiate level. His coaching experience includes seven years at San Jacinto College (2016-2022) before being named the pitching coach at The University of Texas (2023) and The University of Houston (2025), where he worked extensively in player development, pitching instruction, game preparation, and the mental side of competition. In his two years as pitching coach in the Big 12, Williams produced two Big 12 pitchers of the year.

Woody and his wife Kim reside in Sugar Land, Tx and they have 5 children.
