Former San Jacinto College standout pitcher Kelsey (McClain) Walters enters her 14th season as a full-time assistant coach and academic advisor for the San Jacinto College softball program, after spending one season as a volunteer assistant coach (2011-2012).

During her two years as a San Jac student-athlete, Walters left an indelible mark on the program, rewriting the record books. She ranks second all-time for most wins in a single season (31) and holds program records for innings pitched (263.33) and opponents’ batting average (.107). Walters also ranks fourth in career strikeouts, is tied for second in shutouts, and tied for sixth in ERA.

Following her decorated San Jac career, Walters continued her playing career at McNeese State University, where she helped guide the Cowgirls to a 69-56 record over two seasons. She appeared in 37 games, making 20 starts, and posted a 4-5 record with a 3.61 ERA.

Walters holds a master’s degree in kinesiology and coaching from Texas Woman’s University. She has been married since 2014 and is the proud mother of a daughter (born in 2015) and a son (born in 2018).
